Records Galore!

After the busy period of District level racing, the swimmers of East Lothian Swim Team returned to normal routine of training and local racing.  East Lothian Swim Team held one of it’s three annual competitions, where clubs from the Borders, Lothians and Fife descended upon the Mercat Gait Centre, Prestonpans for a strong weekend of racing.

As a whole, the East Lothian based swimmers performed extremely well, with 208 personal best times and 3 ELST Records broken. The standout performances over the weekend came from Stefan Krawiec, who at his final competition as an 11 year old, continued his incredible run of form by setting an additional 3 Scottish 11 Year Short Course Records, taking his count to an impressive 12 National Records.  Stefan broke the 100m Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 200 IM over the course of the weekend.  The 100m Freestyle was an 11 year old record, set by GBR World Championships and Olympic swimmer Mark Szaranek, which Stefan bettered by 0.01 of a second.  The 200 IM broke the previous mark by 4.22 seconds and Stefan broke his own 200 Freestyle record by 1.52 seconds.

Bruce Halloran, ELST Head Coach said,

“This meet rounded off a superb year for Stefan and we all look forward to watching him continue to develop”

“This was a successful meet for the swim team, with 10 Scottish National Championships consideration time standards being achieved.  This is the first of our three annual competitions.  These competitions are a key part of our competition calendar and also a key part of our funding.  We are always looking for team sponsors and if anyone would be interested in getting involved with our flourishing team, please get in contact.”
